German gas attack at Ypres, 22.04.1915. To create a cloud width of 6 km was used 150 tons of chlorine. A favorable wind drove a cloud ahead. The German soldiers were behind him. They were equipped only with wet gauze bandages. The British did not expect such an attack and were not protected. Chlorine-affected 15 000 people, 5,000 of whom died.
